Money for empty bottles- bunbury recycling

MAKING CHANGE, ONE CONTAINER AT A TIME

Every 10¢ container contains more than what you drink. When you throw them away, your containers' potential goes to waste.

But together, we can save these 10¢ containers from landfill, and their potential can have a positive impact across WA.

CHECK FOR THE 10¢ MARK

It's easy to save your 10¢ containers from landfill so they can live another life — just check for the 10¢ mark!

Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel, and liquid paperboard drink containers that are 150ml to 3L are accepted.

This includes:
• Most single-serve water and fizzy drink containers up to and including 3L.
• Most single-serve alcohol containers, like beer bottles and pre-mixed spirits.
• Flavoured milk containers that are 150ml to 999ml.
• Coconut water, pure fruit, or vegetable juice containers that are 150ml to 999ml.

Make sure you take off the lids — we recycle those too, just separately.

WHY RETURN WITH CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE?

We believe every Western Australian has the potential to be a container saver and every 10¢ container has the potential to live on again! Don’t let your containers’ potential go to waste. Bring them to us, and give them another life.

IT'S AS EASY AS 1, 2, 3

All you need is your contact and preferred payment details.

Handy hint: Want to set cash as your preferred payment? No worries!
Some local refund points may not handle cash, so we recommend adding your bank or PayPal details as a back-up — just in case.

If you are a business, school or community group and would like to discuss how the City of Bunbury may be able to help you organise your Container Collection or transport, please call the Waste Services department on 9792 7333 or email depotadmin@bunbury.wa.gov.au

Do lids need to be removed from beverage containers before taking them to a refund point?

Yes, lids are to be removed from containers.

Containers should be empty and preferably rinsed, removing lids ensures contents are empty prior to bringing to our Bunbury CDS – recycling and refund point.

The good news - lids are recyclable.  Containers for Change refund points will also collect lids for recycling, just remove them from the container first.

Can crushed or damaged containers be accepted?

While crushing is permissible at the Bunbury CDS – recycling and refund point, we still must be able to identify the container as an eligible container.

Where ARE the Recycling and Refund Point:

13 Smokebush Road, Davenport

1 Rotary Avenue, Withers

6 Zaknic Place, East Bunbury

Foodbank, 5 Clifford Street, Davenport

Lot 145 Stanley Road, Australind

What happens to the containers redeemed at refund points?

Containers returned to refund points will be sorted into material type (glass, aluminium, PET plastic or HDPE plastic etc.).

The sorted containers will then be sent for further processing and delivered to a final recycling destination.
